Giving “What You Know” Is a Smart Move

Make a difference in your community by using your skills and experience. Common Impact works with your company to set up focused, discrete projects for local nonprofits. You will help these organizations reach important decisions and develop a tangible solution such as a revamped brochure or website, new staff recruiting or performance evaluation tools, or an improved contact management or financial reporting system. Accomplishing these tasks allows nonprofits to amplify their impact.

You will reap more in return than you expect. Applying your talents in a new environment will push you to develop new skills, refresh old ones, collaborate with people you wouldn’t ordinarily meet, and step up your creative game. You will meet new colleagues and get to know them in a different context. Participants describe their Common Impact experience as giving them vital new insights into their own abilities.

What is the Common Impact experience like?

  • It’s organized. Common Impact performs a thorough evaluation of each nonprofit client’s needs before corporate participants begin work on a project, making the process an efficient and valuable use of your time.
  • It’s convenient. Each project varies, but the time commitment averages about 1 to 3 hours a week, over the course of 5 to 7 months. You usually perform the work in your own office or home, with a couple of face-to-face meetings.
  • It’s tailored to your skills and personal goals. We develop projects in the fields of marketing, technology, HR, financial management and business process, for teams of up-and-coming professionals as well as individual senior executives who want to serve as mentors.
