Harbinger Partners, a nonprofit solutions consultancy and skills-based volunteering provider, has announced its merger with the Corporate Volunteer Network (CVN). Both Greater Boston-based organizations offer consulting and project management services designed to connect teams of skilled volunteers from leading companies to community-based nonprofits. By joining forces, Harbinger Partners and CVN can provide a full range of skills-based volunteering opportunities to employees at more participating companies, while bringing a wider array of pro bono services to nonprofit clients, including Information Technology, Marketing, and Human Resources. As part of its new strategy, Harbinger Partners elected to re-name the new organization "Common Impact" to more closely reflect its mission.
In a move that is becoming increasingly common in the nonprofit sector, Common Impact can offer its partners a single-source solution of skills-based volunteering programs called the Corporate Responsibility InitiativeSM. Consolidating IT, marketing, and human resources programs under one roof will make it easier for companies to engage more employees as skilled volunteers, an area of heightened interest both for employees and companies.
George Russell, Executive Vice President of State Street Corporation, said, "We have supported both Harbinger Partners and CVN over the past few years, and we're very pleased that the two organizations are uniting as Common Impact. As a leading company based in Boston, we're always looking for innovative ways to use our employees' skills in the community, and we believe that the Common Impact will make this even easier for us."
All existing programs offered by the two organizations will continue through the end of the current program cycle, and the first program cycle of Common Impact will begin in the Fall of 2006.
According to Theresa Ellis, founder and CEO of Harbinger Partners and now of Common Impact, the demand for skilled volunteers far outpaces the current supply. "More than three times as many nonprofits apply for our services each year than we can help. Together, we look forward to expanding our services and growing quickly and efficiently to meet this demand."
Common Impact is a nonprofit organization that connects skilled professionals from global companies to high-potential local nonprofits. Our employee engagement programs match employee-volunteers with nonprofits that need help overcoming key business challenges. This innovative approach to corporate community service enables companies to realize a positive return on their social investment while building stronger teams and developing employee skills. At the same time, this access to private sector talent enables nonprofits to amplify their impact on the constituents they serve. Ultimately, our work helps foster stronger communities wherever those companies operate. Further information can be found at http://www.commonimpact.org/.
