Common Impact, a nonprofit organization that is helping global corporations and local non-profits build stronger communities through employee engagement programs, will play a leading role though panel discussions, training sessions and an online curriculum produced for this year's National Conference for Volunteering and Service, which is hosted by the Corporation for National & Community Service and the Points of Light Institute and will take place June 28-30, 2010, in New York City.
Joining a distinguished set of speakers and panelists that includes New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams, Points of Light/HandsonNetwork CEO Michelle Nunn and Gap, Inc. Chief Foundation Officer Bobbi Silten, Common Impact will participate in the conference in three ways:
"Skills-based volunteering programs have helped many nonprofits strengthen their organizational infrastructure and bolster the services they provide to communities," said Common Impact Vice President of Thought Leadership Karen Horwitz. "At the same, time, these programs offer a both challenging and an inspiring opportunity for business professionals to give back in a way that is concrete, measurable, and helps them develop their own skills in the process. Knowing how powerful the skills-based volunteering model is for nonprofits, employees, companies and communities, we are very pleased to play such an active role in this year's Conference on Volunteering and Service."
Common Impact's programs match skilled professionals within corporations to high-performing nonprofits in need of help in operational support in areas such as finance, marketing, human resources and IT. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010, Common Impact is a nonprofit partner to organizations such as State Street, Fidelity, Analog Devices, Cisco, CA and many others.
Common Impact is a nonprofit organization that connects skilled professionals from global companies to high-potential local nonprofits. Our employee engagement programs match employee-volunteers with nonprofits that need help overcoming key business challenges. This innovative approach to corporate community service enables companies to realize a positive return on their social investment while building stronger teams and developing employee skills. At the same time, this access to private sector talent enables nonprofits to amplify their impact on the constituents they serve. Ultimately, our work helps foster stronger communities wherever those companies operate. Further information can be found at http://www.commonimpact.org/.
