Common Impact Names James Magerman to Top IT Post
Posted: August 30, 2011
Common Impact, a nonprofit organization that brings together global companies and local nonprofits to build stronger communities through skills-based volunteering partnerships, has named James Magerman as its new IT consultant. Magerman comes to Common Impact from Roslindale, Mass.-based nonprofit Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention, Inc., where he served as director of information systems and technology services. Prior to Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention, Magerman held a role in systems implementation at Partners Healthcare in Newton, Mass. In his new position at Common Impact, Magerman will have responsibility both for the management of Common Impact's IT strategy and for the development, scoping and requirements definitions for the technology needs of Common Impact's nonprofit clients. In addition, Magerman will work as part of the Common Impact team to identify high-potential nonprofits for skills-based volunteering engagements with corporate partners, and will be responsible for facilitating successful relationships between nonprofits and volunteer teams. The appointment further underscores Common Impact's growth. The organization expanded into several cities across the U.S. throughout 2010 and 2011, and recently announced the appointment of a new director of programs in New York City. "James Magerman brings both technical skills and organizational acumen to the IT consultant role," said Common Impact founder and chief executive officer Theresa Ellis. "We are very pleased to have him join our team and look forward to the success he will help foster in the months and years to come." Magerman earned his B.S. in clinical/community psychology at the University of Michigan, where he graduated with highest honors. He also earned an M.B.A. with concentrations in strategy & policy and public/nonprofit management, and an M.S. in information systems, from the Boston University Graduate School of Management. "I am very pleased to join Common Impact, where I look forward to bringing my understanding of IT systems and nonprofit management to help the organization continue its stellar track record of growth and achievement," noted Magerman.About Common Impact
