Common Impact and Capital One to Address Bottom-Line Value of Volunteering at Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Performance Summit
Cambridge, MA -- May 8, 2009 -- Common Impact, a nonprofit organization that is helping global companies and local nonprofits build stronger communities through employee engagement programs, announced today that Co-Founder and Managing Director Theresa M. Ellis and Capital One's Senior Director of Community Relations Emily Talley will team up to speak about bottom-line returns to corporate investments in volunteering programs at the upcoming CSR Performance Summit taking place May 11-13, 2009, in New York.
Ellis and Talley's presentation, entitled "Voluntarism and the Bottom Line: How Employee Volunteerism Strengthens a Company," reflects Capital One and Common Impact's shared commitment to helping nonprofit organizations improve their ability to deliver effective programs and services through corporate skills-based volunteering programs. Capital One is the primary sponsor of Common Impact's landmark research study of nonprofit operational effectiveness, the preliminary findings of which were announced in July 2008.
Along with Ellis and Talley, senior managers in CSR and related programs from leading companies including Dell, Office Depot, Edelman, Campbell Soup Company, FedEx, Sodexho, Pfizer, Cisco and Seventh Generation will deliver presentations at the CSR Performance Summit.
"Having worked in partnership with companies like Capital One for nearly a decade, we strongly believe that corporate volunteerism is an idea whose time has come," said Common Impact Co-Founder and Managing Director Theresa M. Ellis. "I'm honored to be part of such a dynamic and innovative group of CSR thought leaders and look forward to discussing the importance of skills-based volunteering in supporting a value-creating CSR program."
The CSR Performance Summit, produced by Global Strategic Management Institute (GSMI), aims to bring together global CSR practitioners and strategists across all industries to discuss the challenges and opportunities that CSR presents to companies of all sizes. Further information can be found at
