Katie McPadden

Strategic Communications Intern


Katie McPadden serves as the Strategic Communications Intern at Common Impact. In this capacity, Katie is responsible for developing, writing and placing articles and Op-Ed pieces in local and national business press, executing strategies with the press and other industry influencers, and promoting the thought leadership and research that Common Impact has been developing for the past seven years. Katie is excited about encouraging people to develop relationships between the corporate and nonprofit sectors.

Katie comes to Common Impact while working toward a master's degree in public relations at Boston University. During the school year, Katie also serves as a part-time marketing assistant for the Boston University Public and Nonprofit Management MBA Program and a graduate assistant in the College of Communication.

Prior to graduate school, she worked for a year as a communications associate for a nonprofit organization in Arlington, VA. She also had internships in the integrated marketing communication department at WUSA 9 News, a CBS affiliate station in Washington, D.C., and the creative department at MLC Advertising, an agency in Harrisonburg, VA.

Katie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in media arts and design, concentration in corporate communication, and a minor in English from James Madison University in Virginia in 2006.

Over the past few years, Katie has traveled on various volunteer trips, including two to Oaxaca and Puebla, Mexico.
